Pazhangudigal – Vazhvum Arivum Vurimaigalum (பழங்குடிகள் – வாழ்வும் அறிவும் உரிமைகளும்) explores the lives, knowledge, culture, education and rights of Indigenous and tribal communities. Written by N. Mani and V. Sivasankar, the book examines important issues including quality education, forest department schools, higher education, reservation, free public transport, food security, tribal women’s protection and Ekalavya Model Residential Schools. It presents tribal communities not merely as socially or economically backward groups, but as living communities with distinctive histories, languages, cultural traditions, livelihoods, social relationships and generations of knowledge connected to forests, land, water, plants, animals and climate. The book also discusses how modern education, healthcare, technology, employment and infrastructure can reach tribal communities while respecting their identity and traditional knowledge. A valuable resource for readers interested in tribal life, education, social justice and inclusive development.
