Reclaiming The Right to the City

The absence of social democracy in Indian society has forced the Indian Left, led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist), to take up the issues of self-respect, dignity, and basic livelihood. Basic liberal attitudes toward starvation and indignity have deeply eroded, which is why the Left has now fought on two fronts: to fight for immediate social welfare and social dignity, and to build the possibility of a world beyond capitalism and socialism.
