Socialism is The Future

At least two features of this book will strike any reader. First, it seeks to back every assertion it makes with evidence and documentation…. The second remarkable feature is the author’s deep commitment to socialism….. …. He is implacably opposed to any dilution of anti-imperialism, and class collaboration of the sort that social democracy has traditionally, and justifiably, been accused of. There is not a single instance in the book where the author can be accused of backsliding from a socialist position… To him, democracy is an integral part of socialism and can thrive only under socialism; and vice versa. A socialist revolution that does not result in a flowering of socialist democracy constitutes, according to him, only half a revolution; and he quotes Saint-Just, one of the leaders of the Robespierre, to the effect that “those who make half the revolution dig their own grave”… -Prabhat Patnaik
